There is a change in the air, whispering in the cool southerly breeze and dancing along the eclectic facade of Kensington Street. The evenings grow longer and a sense of indulgence hugs the atmosphere. Chippendale heralds in the cosy and intimate Autumn spirit with passionate creative culture, spirited live music and soul-satisfying cuisines.

Inside our arts hub, Kensington Contemporary bids farewell to The Strutt Sisters, and transforms into a pastel coloured daydream with the arrival of Nicole Kelly's 'Desire and reason'.

At Chinois, we sip on champagne from midday, drink teapot cocktails like they’re going out of fashion and indulge in French-Asian fusion delights… It’s the terrace house bar with a French-Asian twist!

Since being named "best food bars in Sydney" by The Daily Telegraph, Chinois is becoming a foodie haven with cocktails and vino to match, all day everyday.

On Mondays, why not sit back with a French Martini & a Croque Monsieur or Madame, or get stuck into Wednesdays with a signature Chinois baguette & beer!

We recommend doing it the French way on Thursdays with a bottle of house vino & Chinois cheese plate for two (45) and don’t forget Cafe Noir Saturdays with live tunes from 6 - 9pm and Cafe Noir Espresso Martinis (14).

With Head Chef, ex-Paramount and The Nine, Nalinil Nonkham, at the helm, indulge in smoked salmon nori seaweed terrine with beetroot & chestnut salad, remoulade & wasabi béarnaise, duck rillettes fresh spring rolls with plum sauce & chestnut puree, crispy slow-cooked pork belly bites with pickled daikon, apple puree & chili soy sauce and honey-glazed popcorn chicken with chili aioli, to name but a few of the culinary delights on offer.

A special mention to Chippendale New World Art Prize’s founder, Dr. Stanley Quek

The Chippendale New World Art Prize was born from the generosity of arts philanthropist and current executive chairman of Greencliff Pty Ltd, Dr. Stanley Quek.  Stemming from a $100,000 personal donation, the prize has been an influential and momentous gift to the arts community.

Since its inception in 2013, the prize has been recognizing emerging and established artists, of both traditional and contemporary practice, and has provided opportunities to undertake international artist residencies.  Dr. Quek established the prize as a ten year contribution, and has since allowed local artists to further develop their practice in some of the world’s most inspiring locations including China, Spain, the Greek Isles, and this year, Assisi.
