The weather is warming up and Kensington Street is ramping up the heat, with four new restaurant and function venue openings, stylish pop-ups and new shoe launches, and the promise for a bold entrance into the new Chinese Year of the Rooster.

On Kensington Street, there are never too many cooks.

Kensington Street invites you to embrace the upcoming festive season by taking advantage of the diverse array of venues for your end of year functions.

Our street is able to accommodate all manner of festivities, from intimate dinners, to cocktail receptions, to larger scale revelry. Relax amongst graffitied walls and fairy lights, with a selection of Spice Alley's best Asian street food at Spice House, or indulge in delectable Japanese offerings at Kyo-To.

Meanwhile, celebrated local chef Tiw Rakarin offers a South East Asian adventure in his sun-filled fine dining venue, Mekong. Or, venture to his street level outpost, the recently revamped Viet. Formerly Lower Mekong, this bustling little gem on the outskirts of Spice Alley offers Tiw's signature take on authentic Vietnamese street food.

The Private Kitchen is a bespoke pop-up, exclusively available for private events. Opening in December in the newly refurbished Old Rum Store, it will feature a rotating cast of lauded international chefs.

The first collaboration is with Chef Stanley Wong. After enjoying widely praised residencies at Michelin-starred Jean-Georges and Spice Market in New York, as well as at the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, The Private Kitchen marks his first culinary venture in Australia, before his permanent restaurant Eastside Grill opens on Kensington Street in early 2017.

Kensington Street warmly welcomes back esteemed artists and designers Lyn and Tony, whose recently launched pop-up Strangelands is quickly becoming a staple of the street, and a welcome alternative to the end of year crowds that teem shopping malls.

Their captivating collection of photography, handcrafted jewelry and light installations, alongside their scented collaboration with Maison Balzac, make this carefully curated space the perfect place for early Christmas shopping, end of year gifts or a even a gift to yourself.

Pop in from 11am-7pm, Tuesday-Sunday up until Christmas.

Entitled Dysmorphia Playground, this exhibition eloquently explores the tropes of modern masculinity, and their implicit effects on society.

Next door, Spring fever has hit with Vanessa Stockard's romantic exhibition now in its second week.

Spring celebrates the subtleties of Stockard's favorite season with an intriguing series of works exploring colour, texture and nature.

Are you ready to tap out of 2016? Start planning a vibrant new year, with a plethora of exciting festivities on Kensington Street already planned for 2017.

We are partnering with the Chinese Cultural Center to celebrate the Chinese New Year like you've never experienced it before.

On Saturday 4th of February Sydney's most innovative artists, musicians, chefs and many more are coming together to celebrate the year of the Rooster. Taking inspiration from the Rooster's status as a symbol of of courage and moral fortitude, our creatives are preparing subversive pieces of visual and performance art, as well as immersive creative workshops and multicultural dining experiences, working together to create a vibrant tribute to Kensington Street's international spirit.

This celebration of diversity will be complemented by the openings of Chef Stanley Wong's modern take on classic New York Dining, Eastside Grill and Chef Lino Sauro's authentic Sicilian venture, Olio.
