Since its activation, Kensington Street has emerged from obscurity to present thrilling initiatives from its tenants, who shake off the dust once collected in the architectural fabric.

On Sunday 1 November, we witnessed over 4000 visitors enter Kensington Street for our debut Bazaar, in addition to the 1800 ticketed visitors from Sydney Open! The upcycled modular landscape was composed of sculptural works from independent artists and local galleries, presenting the deft hands that forge Sydney’s contemporary sculpture scene. Our buskers also softened the air with their mellow tunes to ease everyone into the sweet lull of a warm Sunday afternoon.

The creative tapestry grows. Kensington Contemporary runs new exhibitions this month, preceding the UTS Animation showcase, which will revive the stripped Federation interiors of the Old Rum Store.

Kensington Street’s Creative Director Nicky Ginsberg will gather innovators and speakers in Creative Connect, a networking event encouraging conversation and collaboration between members of the Chippendale Creative Precinct! The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street and other spaces await pop-up events and private functions. On Sunday 13 December, we will weave a bountiful farmers market, run by Brewery Yard’s Jacob Collier, with the festivities of our Kensington Street Christmas Bazaar.

Today, no one is an outsider to Kensington Street. The heritage doors fly open, the eateries welcome hungry wanderers, musicians strum away the weekend and creative enterprises churn out fresh ideas for the local scene. Kensington Street remains a city unto itself, but one whose turrets soar endlessly upwards, and to which the crowds eagerly return.

As the festive season falls across this city, join us from 11AM - 8PM on Sunday 13 December for the Kensington Street Christmas Bazaar! In collaboration with Jacob Collier and Rupert Partridge from Chippendale's Brewery Yard Markets, the open-air exhibition space will be filled with Christmas spirit, akin to family gathering round the table, laden with a wholesome spread from our adjoining farmers market.

Glinting with gold, perfumed by frankincense and myrrh, we invite you to our Christmas Bazaar - a feast for the senses at the most wonderful time of year.

LOCAL DESIGN have been going great guns on the national and international scene - a concept space for cutting-edge interior design,  they can boast an eventful run thus far, and exciting times ahead.

Recently, New York Times’ two most influential design blogs, Yatzer and MOCO LOCO, ran features on LOCAL DESIGN, which also hosted photographer Kara Rosenlund’s Shelter launch. In future, they anticipate the collaborative efforts of Monocle Magazine’s Robyn Holt and Vogue Living’s Jack Milenkovic.

Keep an eye out for LOCAL DESIGN - it’s soaring to global status.

The Gallery Trifecta - Kesington Contemporary 1 & 2, Carlton Project Space

From 6 - 8PM on Thursday 19 November the Gallery Trifecta launched three new exhibitions!

Sarah Mufford’s One Between Two breaks open a kaleidoscope of watercolour in Kensington Contemporary 1, laying out a series of layered patterns that draw from Italian Renaissance masters and the Indian painting mantra of "one between two". In Kensington Contemporary 2, Alternate Forms presents an intricate sculptural showcase, curated in collaboration with Kerrie Lowe Gallery and Stella Downer Fine Art.

Artists’ homages to Japanese pilgrimage trail, Kumano Kodo, comprise multidisciplinary exhibition KODO. The brightest students and graduates of UNSW Art & Design each capture their spiritual journey across tranquil Japanese vistas, bringing forests, shrines and waterfalls through the glass wall of Carlton Project Space.

We also welcome Damian Gascoigne, Associate Professor of UTS School of Design and established animation director and illustrator.

Our speakers will impart their innovation upon this intimate hub, so join us and our CCP members in The Old Rum Store on Tuesday 24 November to converse, sip fine wines and jolt our senses alive with Spice Alley’s flavourful dishes.
